No, he was in good health then. He used to frequently get disguised and go for walks in Hemet, or to Riverside and go shopping in the malls. On other days he and some messengers would drive up the San Jacinto mountain and go for hikes and on "photo shoots." He was active and generally worked about 12 to 14 hours per day. He was very concerned about "security" though. He left those apartments suddenly because he (or the GO) thought that he might be indicted or served with a lawsuit or a subpoena or warrant in connection with any of several matters both civil and criminal that were on going. After he left, Pat Broeker organized a "clean house" project that included shredding and disposing of any evidence of his having been there, even to the extent of washing all the doorknobs, doors, windows, fixtures, tables, etc., etc., that he might have touched "to get rid of any fingerprints." Then we all packed up except for one small bag each of immediate necessities. Most of our personal belongings went into trunks and these were stored in a storage facility and stayed there for weeks --to ensure no-one followed our belongings to our next location and in case any of our stuff was bugged. We were taken in cars one or two at a time by a very circuitous route with lots of "cut outs", "blinds" etc.. For example, sometimes the car would stop in front of a shop or restaurant, we'd go in wander around or have a cup of coffee, go out the back door and into a different car. It took about a day to get from Hemet to Gilman Hot Springs, about 8 miles away. Pat wanted to make sure that none of us was followed in case "the feds" came to ask us about Hubbard --not that we knew where he'd gone anyway. All very "I Spy", sweep the car for bugs before and after you start the engine and keep one eye over your shoulder at all times! > > Tom Klemesrud SP5 > KoX Rev.
