I joined the Church of Scientology in 1963 and resigned in August/September 1983. In 1966, I was the Supervisor of the Briefing Course at St. Hill, East Grinstead, England. I met Flo Barnett at this time when she was one of my students on the Briefing Course we continued a friendship later on. I met Flo Barnett again in 1972 in Los Angeles and maintained communication with her thereafter. In approximately July 1983, I received a pack of NOTs materials in the mail. There was a Post Office Box number and a Los Angeles postmark on the envelope, but no person's name. I do not know who mailed this, neither did I request this data to be sent to me. I glanced through the material I had received and recognized it as NOTs. The material was in the form of Hubbard Communications Office Bulletins (HCOB). But they were not original Red on White issues, and I felt they were also of an unusual length, 8 l/2 by 11 instead of the usual legal size. Since I was not particularly interested in these materials, I gave them to Flo Barnett in approximately late July or August 1983. I remember this time period because I resigned from the Church of Scientology in August 1983, and I received the materials and gave them to Flo prior to my resignation. I gave these to Flo simply because she was a good friend of mine and I knew she was familiar with these materials as she had been audited on them previously. When I told her I had them she said she'd like to read them. This copy was also distinguished by the fact that it had a very hard binding which made it difficult to read. I believe the color of the cover was blue and we removed it to make it easier to read the materials. I do not know with certainty that these were original NOTs materials, as I was not that familiar with these issues. They could have been write-ups made to look like HCOBS. Later, I met more and more people who left Flag at various social events and as part of a group called "Phoenix". From these people I got the impression that there was a great deal of this material available in the field. Flo Barnett died in September of l985. Approximately two weeks ago, November 4th or 5th, 1985, I received a telephone call from Camille Barnett, Flo Barnett's daughter. She had been cleaning out her mother's possessions and came across a "box" of "Confidential" material. Camille said, "I came across a box of confidential material. They are 8 1/2 by 11 inches." I said, "I bet I know what they are. They are mine." Camille asked me what to do with the material. Since Camille lives in a mobile home park, I told her to throw them out in the big trash container. I figured they would be buried under piles of trash. I did not want the material and had no interest in it. Camille agreed to throw away the box of material. Somewhere between November 6th and 8th of 1985, I telephoned Jim Miller, Flo Barnett's husband. He told me that Camille had taken the "stuff" (referring to the box of confidential material) into the Los Angeles Org (Church of Scientology in Los Angeles). I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed this 19th day of November, 1985, at Los Angeles, California. Joyce M.
