Note that Scientology is not a religion of rites and worship. The practice of the religion consists of the running of processes to increase the awareness of one's spiritual nature and one's relationship to other beings. This is known as "The Tech" (technology). From the standpoint of many of the Freezone Scientologists, the orthodox Church of Scientology is indulging in money grubbing behavior, denying materials even to its own members, and requiring inordinately high tiths for almost anything related to The Tech. Furthermore, they apply coercive "Ethics" and other control methods that many Freezoners object to. As such, their behavior is akin to that of the Catholic Church in the old days of selling Holy Offices and selling the right to commit sins for a price. This is sacrelidge in the eyes of many who consider that the earlier scriptures, such as L. Ron Hubbard's statement that "The work was free, keep it so", are the senior guiding data. To this we must add a cry of foul at the endless persecution of splinter groups and dissafected members as well as an internal policy of "security checking" and punishing its members ("lower conditions penalties" etc.) in a manner akin to that of the Spanish Inquisition. Note that the Freezone, like the Protestants, is not a single organization with a singular liturgy but is a proliferation of rebellious believers, each interpreting the scriptures in his own way. And just as Martin Luther allowed for the individual to pray directly to God without the intersession of any church, so to does the freezone include individuals who are not part of any organization but who do profess a belief in the workability of the tech or some portion thereof. ----- Considering the importance of "The Tech" in the practice of Scientology, the iron handed control of the materials and copyrights by the CofS is a serious issue for the freezone Scientologists. In the current hate filled atmosphere encouraged by the CofS, where they label any freezoner's as "squirrels" and subject to any form of mistreatment, it is not even possible for a known freezoner to walk into a CofS organization and purchase materials since they are officially barred from the organization. Furthermore, the CofS does not even make all of the materials available for sale to its own members, labling some things as confidential. This practice is contrary to the beliefs of at least some of the freezoners (this is one of the many variables between different freezone interpretations of correct tech). Of course many freezoners would also consider it morally repugnant to be contributing to the coffers of an organization which considers it its duty to stamp out freezoners by whatever means possible. ----- The appropirate stance, on religious and moral grounds, it that the materials cannot be copyrighted because they are religious works and that any attempt to exercise such a copyright would be in violation of the Bill of Rights. As such it becomes subject to Conscientious Disobedience. ----- In the long term, the freezone should develope its own editions of the works of L. Ron Hubbard. For example, in my opinion (remember that different freezoners have varying opinions), a proper freezone set of technical volumes would be a complete merger of the 1975 and moderns sets plus the additon of all confidential materials in the appropriate date order and other missing or edited materials all appropriately annotated as to sources and the alterations that were progressively applied. Were such things to exist, then we could see the rights of the CofS in regards to their particular editions and editing. However, in the current situation, the CofS behaves as a copyright terrorist and sues any other Scientology sects or practictioners and furthermore believes in bringing suit for purposes of harrasment even if the case is invalid. This makes it extremely dangerous to attempt to produce freezone tech volumes, and furthermore, some of the materials which would be needed for an edition such as the one described above are kept under lock and key by the CosS and are unavailable without their co-operation. This leaves the freezone in the position of having to reluctantly indulge in copyright violations as being a necessity in maintaining their faith and belief under the current reign of terror propogated by the CofS. Restpectfully, The Pilot ---- Since I must remain anonymous to avoid attacks from the CofS, it would help if those of you who believe in religious freedom were to do me the favor of posting or emailing this message to any places on the internet where discussion of religious freedom is appropriate. It's all going to sound like Cap'n Bob's Howdy Doody Time. > > When Hubbard invented Scientology "to make a million bucks", he defeated > COS and Freezone alike. > > ---Alec I was using freezone in the generic sense rather than refering to Capt. Bill's organization. If one of the people in his organization wants to talk to the newspapers about Bill's theories, I'm not going to object. But it is not what I was talking about. The freezone story is one of religious persecution. It includes lawsuits forbidding people to practice their religion and it also includes secret agents sent into these places to sabotoge them, nothing to say of the usual dead agenting and fair game attacks. Some freezone groups may believe the Xenu story and some might not. Some have what you would call Howdy Doody Time stuff and some don't. But that is all besides the point. The common underlying thread of freezone is the use of processes to increase spiritual awareness. Some follow Hubbard closely and some pick and choose and some try to break their own new ground, but all stem from this same basis. Consider the Tora (the books of Moses) for example. Would it be proper for the Jews to force the Christians to remove the first five books from the Bible because they were copyrighted by Moses? It is besides the point whether or not the material in Genisis is plausable or whether or not the Christians follow the dietary laws set forth in the Old Testament. It is part of the foundations of their faith and they should have access to it. Go ahead and make fun of the space opera stuff if you feel like it. I really enjoy some of the Xenu jokes and it helps to relieve the tension. But don't make fun of the victims of the Spanish Inquisition, at least not while the inquisition is still in business. Put a check mark > next to the answer you think is correct. > > > > Anthony > > P.S.: The ASMC Lectures cost $500, or $400 is you're a member of IAS. The ASMC lectures are unfortunately very overpriced, but it is one of the better lecture sets. There are 15 main lectures plus #7A which is an after lecture question and answer session. I hope that they did all of them without editing (does anybody have the new set? I only have the old reels), but I have my doubts. The first lecture is "The Hope Of Man" and the final one (#15) is "What Scientology Is Doing". That last lecture is one of the most Anti-Sea Org lectures ever given and is the rabble rousing one where Ron predicts that someday we will have to rebel against the orthodox organization. That is where my "AUDITORS ARISE" quote comes from that is on the Scientology Reformer's Home Page. In October of 1969, all the orgs world wide gave something called THE OCTOBER CONGRESS. It was actually a repackaging of the ASMC lectures. This was done as an emergency measure to try and handle the collapse of Scientology which was actually occuring due to quickie grades, suppressive ethics, crush sell, overboard style standard tech, and rabid Sea Org missions. Somebody researched the old congresses and found that the Anatomy of the Spirit of Man Congress (ASMC) given over a period of 4 days in 1955 was one of the most successful congresses ever done and caused a boom in the subject. A congress was a Scientology event where Ron would speak (or his tapes would be played) given full time over a weekend or a bit longer. It was open to the general public but usually contained a good bit of advanced tech watered down a bit for ordinary public instead of professional auditors. Usually there was an admission charge. Generally these were about 25 dollars in the 1960s. I think that was the fee for attending the October congress. The October Congress (1969) was promoted a great deal and the impression everyone had was that it would be a new set of lectures from Ron and that it would save the subject. The tapes only arrived a few days before the event and I was surprised to see that it was really a repackaging of an old congress. But we were to play them as if it was a new release and so the few of us who knew kept our mouths shut. If I remember right, it was Thursday evening, and Friday evening, and then full time Saturday and Sunday. The very last lecture (the rable rousing one) was OMITTED and a modern lecture about the grade chart was substituted. The lectures included 3 hours of group processing (Ron giving auditing commands to the audience). Some of the standard tech fanatics and the C/Ses almost shit their pants. Some of the wildest squirrely auditing that the public had ever had in a decade. Remember, these were the toughest of the standard tech days. People would get declared suppressive for running processes like the ones on the tapes. The standard tech fanatics were sure that the people in the audience would get sick, cave in, have nightmares, or whatever. Instead the audience loved it, and a number of people even had the clear cog from one of the tapes. It actually did create a boom at the org for about two weeks. That was about how long it took for the public to cognite that the tech they heard on those tapes had nothing whatsoever to do with modern standard tech. After that the collapse continued on its downward slide. But somebody must have noticed that it worked despite violating all the rules of standard tech, so eventually Yvonne Gillam (later Yvonne Jentz) started going around to the various orgs on tour running 1950s style group processing. Too bad they didn't play the last tape in the set. We might have had our revolution right then and there. Best, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio - More Solo Nots Stats MORE SOLO NOTS STATS I was looking over the latest Solo Nots Newsletter and comparing the current stats to the one that I posted a month or two ago (which was already a bit old). I wouldn't repeat the whole thing here, but I noticed some interesting numbers. Solo Nots Newsletter Vol 1 issue 10 titled "Merry Christmas and an OT New Year". Recieved sometime in December This gives a detailed statistical breakdown of the effort to get Solo Nots people to do the Solo Nots Certainty course. "Target: To have every person in every country finished by Mar 13, 1998". The old target was to start everyone by Nov 1. These newsletters are undated. The difference in target dates is 4 1/2 months, so that is probably the time difference between the issues. AREA TOTAL COMPS STARTS LEFT % LEFT OLD TOTAL 3280 768 1527 1753 (53%) -32 +157 +102 -134 (49%) ===== === ==== ==== NEW TOTAL 3248 925 1629 1619 The TOTAL represents the total number of people who started Solo Nots prior to the release of the SNOTS certainty course (new people get the Golden Era version to begin with). This includes everyone who completed and all the new OT 8s and so forth. The stat is showing how many of the TOTAL who needed to do the Solo Nots Certainty course have actually started or completed it. Of course the TOTAL should not go down unless people traved back in time and fix it so that they never got on Solo Nots in the first place. Or it could go down if they became declared SPs and stopped being counted as OT 7s and 8s. So in the last 1/3 year, they managed to get another 102 to start the certainty course (6% of those who hadn't yet started) and managed to declare or otherwise lose 32 SNOTS completions. Note that the Starts column includes the people who have already completed (TOTAL = STARTS + LEFT). Of course they do let people complete sometimes, so the number of Comps is going up. The newsletter included a detailed breakdown by country (similar to the previous one I posted). In general, the few who were talked into starting were pretty much spread out in the various geographical areas, with a few interesting exceptions. Germany did not suffer any decrease, and 3 of SNOTS completions seem to have started the certainty course (and 13 completed it) so the troubles with the government doesn't seem to have hurt the orthodox enthusiasm. But some places such as Italy (4 started and 4 gone) and San Franciso (9 started and 9 gone) may have used a heavy ethics push to get people to start and lost half of the people they pushed hard at. One of the little articles in the newsletter is called "Italian Ambassadors in Action". "The Italian OT Ambassadors are rolling, not only getting OT Project #1 done (see where Italy is in the latest standings) but also they have now activated OT Project #2, getting Clears moving as well. Ably lead by Franco Beschi they are holding events and doing mailings and from this, the CLO noticed that their field is becoming activated! Anna Mazza, FSC Italy I/C, recently commented 'I have never had anything like this before. I can ask ANY Solo NOTs Certainty completion at ANY time for help and they assist me on whatever is needed - IT'S INCREDIBLE.'" AREA TOTAL COMPS STARTS LEFT PERCENT LEFT Italy (old #s) 214 90 126 88 (41%) Italy (new #s) 210 100 130 80 (38%) difference -4 +10 +4 -8 In other words, of the 88 people who hadn't started last time, they managed to force 4 of them to get on the course while losing another 4, probably to the freezone. I have no data but I would guess that they put heavy ethics style pressure on 8 guys and 4 of them blew and 4 succumbed. The Italian OT Ambassadors really are rolling! Well, at least they let another 10 people complete what seems to be an endlessly long course (apparantly 26 of the 30 people in Italy who have started it and not completed have been on it since the last newsletter came out - I assume that most of these people just did the first part and are at home rather than being at Flag the entire time, probably under the "must come back every 6 months" rule). Sounds like overrun city, with Flag trying to go to the trough again and again on the same people. Do they cover their faces, clasp their hands, or fold them in the Catholic style. The answer is that it varies by denomination. The Baptists for example will cover their faces. Since they are welcome at each other's churchs, a big service will see a mixture of methods even though the specific church will have its particular way. At least that is how it is here in the US. In my particular flavor, one would have PTS as a case condition where somebody is being abused or manipulated by another and would handle it as a case matter by auditing them until they could confront and handle the person who is suppressing them. The concept of an abstract suppressive person who is the root of evil does not exist in my world view. Therefore using ethics to label people as suppressive is a false idea which is to be despised. This is how I would reform orthodox Scientology as well if the opportunity presents itself. It is a reasonable position that retains the use of auditing rundowns which help the situation while eliminating the witch hunting and kangaroo court style ethics. But various freezone groups would have differing postions on this. It is one of the areas that is obvious to all of them as needing revision because all of them have been wrongfully attacked on the basis of their being suppressives. Some might reject the entirety of the PTS/SP concepts. Some might retain more than I do, but none would keep everything because they have been harmed by it. As to Clearing the Planet, again this is a subject of much varience. There are many differences of opinion on the meaning of Clear. I have my own based on Ron's much saner definitions of 1957-8 (ability to confront pain and force in mental pictures) rather than the fanatical definitions of the late 1960s. And some definitions of "Clearing the Planet" do not require that everyone on Earth become "Clear" but simply expect the planet to become a safer and saner environment. I would suggest this as being a good thing which does not require that everyone convert to Scientology or accept it but simply expects rational behavior from governments and society. Many freezone groups would want to spread the tech around the planet and make it easily available to all. I don't think that anybody in the freezone would want to see everyone on the planet recruited into a single tough minded organization that marshalled everyone up and "cleared" them. One of the underlying concepts that is a common denomenator of the free zone is that people should be free to practice the tech in their own way and not have to bow to some singular central authority. Asking the free zone questions such as the above is liable to trigger a theological debate. Both questions are points of contention and most freezoners will know that they can't answer for the others on points like these. No single person can speak for all of the freezone just as no single person can speak for all the Protestants. At best one can study the matter and give a good analysis which will be mostly correct. I hope this helps, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio - Scientology Mental Abuse SCIENTOLOGY MENTAL ABUSE On 15 Jan 98, "Homer W. But knowing you > deserve to be loved and respected and empowering yourself with a > commitment to try is half the battle. Much more. > > And it is never too soon--or too late--to start. This in turn made me think of the new Scientology slogan about THINKING FOR YOURSELF. That one must have been originated by a reformer and snuck through lines because it sounds good and seems like what Scientology should be about. It seems to me like its really a message from some Scientologists to other Scientologists in the church and was placed on outside lines because there is no way to send such a message internally. It seems to me that the real tech on thinking for yourself would be to learn to "SELF-REFERENCE" and develop your own standards as mentioned in the above article. And that reminded me of the really really good feeling I got from doing my writeup on "What is and isn't true" in the first chapter of the Super Scio book. So here is THE PROCESS for people coming out of the CofS (and for those within it who really want total freedom): DO YOUR OWN EVALUATION OF WHAT IS AND ISN'T TRUE IN SCIENTOLOGY. EVALUATE IT BY YOUR OWN STANDARDS. NOT BY MY STANDARDS OR HUBBARD'S STANDARDS OR THE REGISTRAR'S STANDARDS OR THE CRITIC'S STANDARADS, BUT BY YOUR OWN PERSONAL STANDARDS. Do this for your own satisfaction and for your own freedom of thought. This does not guarantee that you will be correct in your evaluations. But at least it will be your own thoughts in your head instead of somebody else's. Good Luck, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio - End Of CofS Pool END OF COFS POOL I seem to have started this with my postulate that 21 Mar 98 would be the date when it happened in my post "Super Scio - Plugging Away At All Fronts (Attn Hartley)". Then David Gerard picked up on it and renamed the thread "Death of CoS Pool!" which I though was a neat idea, but Death is too strong a word so I'll call it the "End of CofS Pool". And there has been some wondering about the rules. I mentioned the kind of things that I had in mind in the original post, but I was discussing the subject rather than listing things clearly. So here is a suggested list for use as a starting point. These are things that I think are significant enough to mean the end. Of course there are possible loopholes (DM gets hit by a truck and an equally fanatical person replaces him), and some ending situations lead to them lingering on for years in a slow crumbling, but in general any one of these would at least signal that we have entered the end game and be worth having a party. The condition for winning the pool is for any of the following to occur: 1. The copyrights becoming public domain or are otherwise lost 2. David Miscaviage blows, is removed, goes to jail, or resigns and is replaced by a leader dedicated to reform. 3. Major Policies such as KSW, High Crimes, and so forth are actually revised significantly or cancelled and the changes are broadly promoted and circulated among the membership. 4. The corporate structure is shattered or unbundled so that the outer organizations and missions are totally independent, can do what they like including publishing confidential materials, and are not subject to RTC or Sea Org mandates. (This is almost as good as losing the copyrights, any disgruntled mission could authorize operation clambake for example). 5. The corporation declares bankruptcy and either Flag or Cedars is auctioned off. 6. A high CofS offical such as Heber publicly acknowledges and discusses the story of Xemu without ranting about the evil psychs. 7. Hubbard reappears as a reincarnated teenager with enough proof to convince the orgs and gain control of the fortune and then says "It was all a big mistake, everybody go home". (joke, but anything like this would qualify if the members believed it). ----- The pool tickets that I have seen so far are: The Pilot 21 Mar 1998 D.A. Here's Hopeing for a Really Good Year, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio Humor - Penalties for Failure to Footbullet PENALTIES FOR FAILURE TO FOOTBULLET They loyalist officers hiding in the 4th dimension have intercepted the following new policy letter which is about to be released at the next event. I am mearly passing it on as a public service and take no responsibility for its contents. Enjoy, The Pilot ---------- HCO POLICY LETTER OF xxxxx (date garbled in transmission) PENALTIES FOR FAILURE TO FOOTBULLET It has come to my attention that some Scientologists have failed to footbullet adequately. The magnitude of this error is so great as to threaten the future of all of western civilization. On this basis, the lower ethics conditions are inadequate and must be beefed up. 1. FOOTBULLET LIABILITY Sometimes the organization has failed to spam and sue adequately to keep creating more critics in adequate numbers. This is downstat and cannot be tolerated. As long as there is a single neutral ISP on the internet, our job has not been done adequately. Remember that two thirds of an ISP is an SP or a Suppressive Person. Therefore they must be sued. If they haven't put up any confidential materials yet, they will soon, so get the jump on them and attack first. Make them into critics FAST. We need adequate critics to show the membership how bad it is out there. Anyone failing to implement this or being namby pamby about launching lawsuits is to be put on a diet of dog food in place of the customary rice and beans in addition to applying all normal formulas and penalties for a condition of liability. 2. FOOTBULLET DOUBT Some members have lacked adequate certainty that there is an evil world conspiracy out there run by the 12 evil bankers and their chairman Rockecenter. We must prove to the world that this evil conspiracy is real. Do whatever is necessary to get the governments pissed off at us so that we can be persecuted. Break laws, commit credit card frauds, infiltrate government agencies, or do whatever else it takes to accomplish this, but be sure and get those attacks moving. There is no better thing that you could do for your country than to get it to persecute Scientology because that will ensure that the membership will rally to our support and guarantee that we will clear the planet. Anyone failing to support this or agree with it is in a condition of FOOTBULLET DOUBT. They are to not only apply the doubt formula and all penalties but must also shit in their pants instead of using a restroom until they are upgraded to FOOTBULLET LIABILITY. 3. FOOTBULLET ENEMY Some members actually disagree with the wisdom of footbulleting. They object to the televised rantings of our loyal leaders. They would actually talk to the critics or try to improve conditions. This is an invalidation of the organization and must be stopped at all costs. Anyone who disagrees with the practice of footbulleting is hereby immediately assigned a condition of FOOTBULLET ENEMY. In addition to the normal formula, which is to "find out who you really are", they are also to apply an additional step which is to "find out who your god really is" and the only acceptible answer is "L. Ron Hubbard". Until this answer is cognited on (without prompting), they must remain in this lower condition. To encourage quick congnitions, anyone in FOOTBULLET ENEMY is also to be subject to daily anal reamings by upper management in addition to all other penalties. 4. FOOTBULLET TREASON A very few bad hats who have somehow remained hidden in our ranks not only object to footbulleting but wish to see a complete reform. They would have the membership actually confront critics and find out what is being criticised instead of suppressing the existance of critics. This is intolerable and would doom the organization in the form in which it now exists. Anyone condoning such practices or failing to stomp them out with a vengance is hereby declared in a condition of FOOTBULLET TREASON. The additional penalties include ritual surgery so as to ensure an adequate supply of replacement body parts for our glorious leadership so that they may continue to guide us through the troubled times ahead. 5. SUMMARY We cannot adequately dramatize our Goals Problem Masses (GPMs) unless we actively create opponents. If we fail to do this, then there is less reason to mortage homes and scrape up bucks to pay to audit this all out. And that would lead to less income, and that is the worst crime of all. Remember - THE ONLY CRIME IN THIS UNIVERSE IS TO BE THERE AND NOT MAKE MORE MONEY. MONEY IS THE UNIVERSAL SOLVENT. WHEN IN DOUBT, MAKE MORE MONEY. Issued by the RTC (the Rearend Technology Crowd) from the unpublished (and previously unwritten) works left behind by L. Thank You for your help, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio - TO WGERT - PROTECTING THE TECH TO WGERT - PROTECTING THE TECH I remember when operation Snow White went down. All of a sudden there it was all over the newspapers about the GO being caught red handed infiltrating the government. I'm not going to argue the morality of this, the government is not lilly white either. My overwhelming reaction at the time was that those idiots in the GO had put MY Religion At Risk. They were playing games, you see. Big league spy games. In a misguided effort to protect the subject, they actually did it great damage. These were not bad guys. I knew a lot of them in the old days. They were willing to put their lives on the line for the sake of the subject. They believed in the tech. They wanted to help people. They wanted to make the world a better place. And somehow or other, they got this stupid idea that the tech and the society were opterms (opposition terminals). Instead of using their skill as auditors to help people, they took on a dubbed-in wrong target, played James Bond, and FAILED. They actually brought about a worst case senario. Not only did they fail to handle the government, but they got caught engaging in something that could well have been labled "high treason" and used to destroy the subject. This is ten times worse than doing nothing. We were lucky. There was no world conspiracy carefully orchestrating everything. The courts and the government did not extract every ounce of blood possible. The subject survived. Not thanks to obeying policy, but thanks to haveing NOT applied even more policy and gotten caught at even more criminal acts. ---- Despite anything you or others might think of me or my actions, I love the tech and I want to ensure its survival. Put aside the fact that I also write my own materials (the self clearing book) and have friendly chats with freezoners (what you might want to call squirrels). These things are not in conflict. I want to spread my own stuff, but I also want to see Ron's stuff remain available and intact without alter-is (alteration). ---- Things are going badly for the CofS. Let's not argue about the rightness and wrongess. Maybe you will stay in there and fight to the death to protect the organization no matter what and maybe I will keep crying for reform and eventually end up completely in the freezone. But you have to face the possiblity that the organization might go under. Even if you're sure it wouldn't and even if you are prepared to put everything on the line to defend it, you still need to get your TRs in on the chance that the worst will happen. Remember that what you resist you become. It applies to organizations too. So you need a fallback just in case. What the business world calls covering your ass or hedging your bets. ---- What I'm most concerned about here is the survival of the tech and the availability of Ron's materials. Not just those tiny pieces of OT materials that are floating around on the internet. That is really trivial. No more than a few percent of the research line. Those will never be lost because even the critics are propogating them. But what about the vast quantities of tapes and bulletins? That is what might be lost. The tech might disappear from the society. Maybe one of the vaults might survive, but that does nobody any good within this civilization. ---- If the CofS goes down, somebody might buy up the copyrights at a bankruptcy sale. And it might be somebody hostile to the tech who will want to bury it and sue anybody who tries to publish it. If Int Magagement gets smashed, everybody in the orgs might suddenly find themselves in the position of standard tech proponents within the freezone. These exist, but they hide because of the copyright suits. The visible freezone groups generally diverge further. Many of the hidden ones are what you would call standard (standard tech, not policy). If the head is cut off, many of the CofS pieces would still survive as independent organizations. But if somebody nasty gets the copyrights, the remnants could be destroyed by lawsuits. And you and I both know that you wouldn't have advanced warning. Unless you are high in OSA's councils (which I'm pretty sure you are not), there will be no briefings about really bad things coming because it would be bad PR and spreading entheta. Things like Snow White, Ron's Death, and the Lisa business all show up in the newspapers first. Then you might get a little damage control from management. ---- The only safe place for the copyrights is Public Domain. This is the only way to guarantee that you wouldn't be on the receiving end of the same kind of leagal attacks that the CofS is currently launching against others. Remember the overt motivator sequence. The tendency will be for the CofS to "pull in" the same stuff that it has done to others. This has to be prevented for the sake of the tech. We both know that it wouldn't hurt CofS booksales. The membership would still buy the authorized copies or risk ending up in Ethics. If the freezone reproduces some of the stuff for their own use, why should you mind. Either they will make it out of the trap on their own or they wouldn't, but why should you stop them. And it ensures that there will be more copies around if the worst should happen. ---- How about spreading the word around? How about suggesting to your friends at OSA that it might be a good idea to get the tech into the public domain so that it can't be suppressed? How about spreading the word among the other big league FSMs? It can be done. You don't have to take the enemy line or put yourself at risk with ethics. Just cover the org's ass against the possiblity of the fight going against them. Regards, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio - THE PERSECUTION OF THE FREEZONE (ANSWERING BEV) THE PERSECUTION OF THE FREEZONE (ANSWERING BEV) On 9 Jan 98, Bev replied to my post on subject "Super Scio - To Justin About Religion" > Pilot wrote: > > > The only group that would not leave me alone if I were > > to come out in the open and really start spreading > > the tech is the CofS itself. > > > > Think about it. > > Where does the real suppression lie? > > ARC, > > The Pilot > > Pilot, I am really curious. If > so, what do they say? > > Do they realize that their own organization is guilty of that same > denial of rights to practice spiritual beliefs by labeling and attacking > "SP's and Squirrel's" that they are currently making a major issue of > regarding their own selves? > > Beverly There are three areas where it is almost impossible to talk to the current membership. These are the evil psychs, the "squirrels", and confidentiality. And of these areas, the "squirrels" are possibly the worst. The "squirrels" can't even be mentioned in most cases without a knee jerk reaction. And simply calling them freezone or independents instead of squirrels is asking for trouble because you are being theedie weedie and showing some agreement with their right to practice. On the other hand, CofS management stupidity, the abuse of staff members, the high prices, misuse of ethics, and many reformist ideas are very popular and easy to bring up in most cases as long as you start with an old quote of Rons (like the ones on the Reformer's Home Page). Or rather, it is easy for one Scientologist to bring up while talking to another. A direct critic who puts them under attack will cause them to clam up. But these are what Scientologists talk about amongst themselves. For example, I can be scathingly critical of Flag's handling of Lisa as long as I mention the C/S series reference on "Not Going on Hopeing" first. If I don't do that, then I'm supporting the enemy line. If I do do it, then I'm Keeping Scientology Working. The only statement in the area of "right to practice" that I have found to be acceptible to loyalists is that we may have been shooting ourselves in the foot with some of the court cases because the precedents established might be used against us later. Of course there are Scientologists right on the edge who do talk to freezoners and can discuss this sanely. But they are generally prepared to walk out the door already and are simply hanging on because of friends and family in CofS. Note that the Reformer's Home Page concentrates on things that are wrong internally and only mentions the freezone near the end. This goes over very well any time that I have felt safe in directing a loyalist to look at it. And even there, they are usually a bit hesitant about the freezone for a short while. The internal hate mongering against squirrels has been so strong that it takes time for them to re-evaluate it. ---- On 9 Jan 98, Bev also wrote in response to my earlier post on subject "Super Scio - FREEZONE MUST ACT NOW" > The Pilot wrote: > > > > FREEZONE MUST ACT NOW > > > But the Freezone story has not yet hit the big news. > > And it is very important that it do so NOW while every > > newsroom is hot for material and unafraid of CofS > > retaliation. > > > And there is an important reason for telling the Freezone > > story. > > It is a matter of religious persecution and the freedom > > to have the religious scriptures necessary to one's faith. > > I have wondered for a really long time why those who wish to > practice the tech according to their own beliefs, hearts and > minds have not spoken up and written to the leaders of their > respective countries regarding their suppression of spiritual > beliefs and practices and also sent more data to the media. There have been some efforts in these areas by big names such as Mayo, but the CofS counter attacks are so terrible that they scared off many of the lesser players. Often they have perferred to keep their heads down and practice the tech instead of calling attention to themselves and ending up practicing law and self defense instead. And even that doesn't protect them. One example is Jim Bostrom. He used to pass around xeroxs of LRH materials as a public service to independent Scientologists. Eventually the CofS got a court order and launched a surprise police raid, confiscating all his materials. There was a picture of him being hauled off in handcuffs in some CofS publication (I forget which one). I ran into him a few months afterwards and he was very dishartened. I think that this was back around 1990 or so. I haven't seen him since. > I hope that your suggestion will be listened to. I think that > those in the Freezone need to be kept alert to the next meeting > of Congress for the Committee on Religious Persecution and see > if some brave souls would be willing to be present in whatever > places possible to talk with the media and hopefully get to also > be heard by the Committee itself. > > Also, there need to be some that are willing to make the trip > to see the State Department reps for the Human Rights commission > as well. Up until now, any freezoner who stood up would be putting themselves at great risk. The copyrights make anyone who is practicing a potential target, and if it is a freezone group that charges for services, they don't even have fair use to aid them. If I understand correctly (I am not an expert in this area), Enid Vien tried to argue religious freedom in the courts many years ago and didn't have a deep enough war chest and ended up settling. The lawsuits against freezoners would be much stronger than anything the CofS can launch against people who simply make confidential materials available freely on the net. And at the same time, CofS also uses dead agenting and sends in secret agents to sabotoge the freezone groups. If they keep a low profile, the CofS may ignore them, but if they speak up, they become the high priority target. Things have changed and the freezone has a real chance right now. It has all been happening very fast and the trouble is that many of them may hold back because of old bad experiences. First, the IRS ruling of the CofS as a religion makes a religious freedom case much stronger. They need to act while this is strong (the CofS is stupid enough to screw it up and loose the religious status). Second, the critics are blowing the whistle and the press attacks against CofS are working up to a fever pitch. So OSA is very distracted and doesn't have the usual resources available. Third, at this moment the critics would mostly welcome the freezone as allies (my opinion). Fourth, the CofS is at its weakest right now, driving off members with the Golden Era stuff, suffering from crashed stats, and looking like idiots on TV. Too much persecution will strenghten the ranks, so this is the time to act. Fifth, the critics have been broadly spreading confidential materials on the net and these things are coming to court. A freedom of religion argument fits right in with these things and could be of great help to both the critics and the freezone. This is an opportunity for an assault on two fronts which is much more powerful than either group could do alone. Sixth, I feel that right now a lot of members are on the edge and ready to leave and the publicity of an open battle for religious freedom might show them that the freezone is really a realm of free tech rather than evil traitors. This would weaken the CofS and strengthen the freezone greatly. It is a time when the mass media might help the freezone to get their story across to the loyalists and offset the endless internal anti-squirrel promotion. > Co$ has worked overtime to make their points heard (having 'clebs > also works as it opens a door to a rep about as fast as a New York > second) but I honestly don't believe that the government officials > they have spoken with have even the remotest idea that the Co$ is > guilty of doing the same thing to "rougue" members who wish to > practice outside of the strangling control of the Co$. Exactly. This is why it is time to speak up and become visibile. > Would this even be an action that anybody out there would be willing > to take on? > > Also, one thing that I have to be honest that is in the back of my > mind is . . . if the Freezoners and other "squirrels" were free to > start their own organizations free from the inimidation of the Co$, > would there be the possibility of the same abusive polices coming > into effect? Not likely because there is no single freezone group or point of control. It is like the protestants. The only protestant exceptions were tiny colonies in the new world where a single sect had enough isolation and control to push people around. As soon as a community has multiple protestant sects, they must bend over backwards to keep from driving off their members because the members can join the church across the street. It should be obvious from the conversations on A.C.T. that there is much arguing of "theology" between the various posters and actually many of them could be considered individual sects unto themselves although a number of different organizations are also represented. > Again, I have stated before I could care less what people choose > to believe, but the ACTIONS taken, when abusive or fraudulent, are > what I would never want to see happen again. Those are the things > that I have severe objections and criticisms of with the Co$. > > Beverly I am definitely in agreement on this. --- I do not expect freezone practictioners to head straight for the courtrooms. Their organizations are too vulnerable. They need publicity first. Very much publicity about the abuses and lawsuits and discrimination that has already been practiced against them. Somebody should be collecting their stories into a Scientology Persecution webpage. It shouldn't be me because I am, at least theoretically, still a member of CofS and I couldn't do the continual adding of links and documents from an annonymous position. I know that there are already things in FactNets archives and at various critics sites, but it needs to be beefed up and highlighted and added to. There should be a high quality page acting as a focus so that reporters can be given a specific URL as a starting point for their research. Somebody running a freezone group shouldn't be waving their hands and calling the CofS over to kick them around. They need to keep their groups operating. But their members could be encouraged, as individuals, to write congressmen, newspapers, etc. and get some national coverage onto this situation. A good title might be "The Persecuted Scientologist's Page". It sounds loyalist and may attract them to read it, but it would show how CofS is persecuting Scientologists. Regards, The Pilot ========================================== subj : Super Scio - FREEZONE BATTLE PLANS FREEZONE BATTLE PLANS On 11 Jan 98, Heidrun Beer wrote on subject "PILOT - WE NEED YOU!" > Pilot, we need you now to synchronize our efforts and get > something done. I suggest you contact the individuals you > trust most, and arrange for regular meetings on an invitation- > only IRC-channel. This is the wrong tactic. The CofS is totally geared to handling things that have a single source. This was one of Ron's biggest blind spots. It might be because he himself wanted to be a single source. Things often come from multiple sources. Not just multiple relay points, but multiple origination points. We have a common target. We each mock something up. If you are only a relay point for my mockups, then it all traces back to a single source. But if you are doing your own mockups, then there are multiple sources and the CofS will be incapable of handling it. I would not have thought up the things you are doing. I might not even agree with everything you say. But that is all to the good. It makes the whole battle plan totally unpredictable. They will never know where the next blow is landing or what the specific source points are. This is gureilla warfare rather than an army marching in ranks. It is like the American Revolution with the rebels hiding in the trees and shooting at the British who are foolishly marching in straight lines with but a single thetan mocking up their entire operation. We have, for example, Joe the Eternal coming up with his own plan for getting the tech on the net and it is an excellent idea and they can't stop him by stopping you or me. And they can't predict his actions by predicting you or me. And they can't even find out his plans by bugging our communications (or even by reading our minds) because we don't even know exactly what his plans are in detail. And so it becomes hopeless for them. Because every tool in their arsenel is aimed at finding the one and only unique source point and handling it. The critics are already showing that the CofS starts going PTS and even stops sueing eventually when the attacks are coming from too many source points at once. The CofS still thinks that there must be one super SP behind all of the attacks. It makes for endless errors in judgement and footbulleting. We do need enthusiasm and for each of us to know that we are not alone in this. And we need some identification of targets. And we even need some synchonization. But I'm putting everything I've got on these points out in the open where everybody on the net can see them. Because its not just you and me or the other guys who are visible on the net. For everyone posting, there are ten or a hundred who are also planning their attacks but staying out of sight while they do it. They need the encouragement. They need to know what is going on. We are the more visibe targets. The lurkers are the camaflogued army that the CofS can't even guess at. Did you notice that somebody started posting the tech vols anonymously (Red Volumes 1/? and 2/? so far)? I don't think that it was Joe, he was still trying to find a set when the posts appeared. I assume that somebody simply heard it and decided to contribute to the motion. If the discussion had been secret, that wouldn't have happened. As it is, I assume that people will continue posting them and that even if somebody were stopped, someone else would simply keep the posts coming. The CofS would never be able to handle it because they would look for the one source point. Furthermore, I think that Ron was wrong in trying to be a single source. Past a certain stage of development, it will stunt the growth of the other beings involved. You have already grown beyond the orthodox restraints. You don't need another guru to chain you up again. I will happliy offer suggestions and hopefully helpful constructive criticism, but you are already at the stage where you must chart your own course. Consider yourself a player in your own right rather than a piece in my game. As for being in direct comm personally, I think that that would be very nice and look forward to it later, but my gut feeling is that it would be a really wrong action right at this moment. It would be that much less comm going out to the lurkers. > This might constitute the CRITICAL MASS in the freezone > scene which is still just glowing (growing?), but not really > manifesting its full potential. Whether or not I was co-ordinating things, there are physical universe comm lags and it takes time for ideas to spread. The freezone sceen is far from full potential. My feeling is that we ain't seen nothin yet compared to what is going to surface over the next few months. Some of the freezone groups are very well hidden, especially near the larger CofS organizations. My prediction for critical mass is that March 21 date, but I should warn you that I tend to postulate and predict the best case scenario. As Machiavelli says, aim high and you might actually hit the target. ------ On Jan 11, "Steve n' Sarah" picked up Hiedrun's post and added the following - > Over the last few days,we have been copying the 'self-clearing' book > onto floppy and ensuring that non-.netizens who are interested, receive a > copy. One person had never even HEARD of Scientology before and likes > the book. > > One of the most important activities we can undertake is to ensure this > book get's off the net and into the real world. Excellent. You have my thanks and support. This again makes my point about individual thetans each contributing their efforts against the same targets. Totally unpredictable. Totally unstoppable. I didn't plan or suggest this. The CofS could not have prepared against this by analyzing me as an opponent. Even if I were to vanish in this instant, what has been started would carry forward. > Start or expand our groups.Preach not to the converted but to the OTHERS!. > Those who simply do not know. > > Pilot knows more about computers than we do,but a combination of the > anonymizer and a free e-mail account at 'unforgettable.com' may be > untraceable. > > We already have enough to set the world alight. > Shit,if Pilot ever open's an Org........we'll both join staff. You're already on board. Like the Kingdom of God, the Org of the Pilot is within you, spreading tech where ever you go so long as you choose to do so. Keep up the good work. > Steve/Sarah ----- I notice many voices supporting reform. I see many postings encouraging the freezone. There have been excellent articles posted recently showing the parallels with the Protestant Reformation. Many who lurk may be doing things even as we speak. They do not have to be visible to be effective. ----- Important targets right now include a) media exposure of the existance of freezone Scientologists and their persecution by the CofS, especially as to copyrights. b) spread of self clearing materials, not only within the freezone but also to CofS members in good standing. c) spread of basic reform ideas, especially copies of the Scientology Reformer's Homepage, to CofS members and especially to CofS staff members. Much of this can be done in a fabian manner or with low personal risk. It is not quite the time for lurkers to stand out in the open yet. Things can be mailed. Messages can be sent to the press. Printouts of things like "The Org's Grades Are Out" could even be pasted to lampposts around CofS facilities. They don't even have to be infront of the org's doorway, they can be where you know that the public goes to have lunch and so forth. For those of you who are still officialy in the CofS, all the quotes on the Scientology Reformer's Homepage are valid LRH quotes. They can be used to start conversations with loyalists to sound them out. If you come on strong in favor of Ron and early tech, you can get away with tons of criticism of management and even of foolish policies without having knowlege reports written on you. If you talk from a basis of theta rather than from bypassed charge, you'll be surprised at how much agreement you get even from the literal minded robots. And for those of you who are already freezone, spread the word openly. And get it to your friends who are still "in" if at all possible. There is free self clearing. There is a reform movement. There is an expanding freezone. And most of all, there is hope. There is no need for anybody to sell their souls into slavery to buy freedom. Sow the seeds now so that we may reap the harvest later. Errode the foundations and the tiniest breeze will blow down the walls. All the silent lurkers who are in agreement with this should get busy each in their own way.
